Wednesday of each month.

| Akron
SHRM’s monthly meetings and additional events are
designed to educate, enhance and occasionally entertain
the human resource professional. In addition, these
meetings and events provide members and guests a wonderful
opportunity to network, share ideas and discuss human

The next meeting of Akron SHRM will be Thursday (not Wednesday) September 9, 2010 at Guy’s Party Center. Our guest speaker will be Maria Delio, who will be presenting “Financials for Human Resources Managers.” Maria is from Pittsburgh and is a popular speaker on financial issues in Western Pennsylvania. Slippery Rock University tells me they have a wait list of people wanting to take Maria’s one-day seminar by the same topic. This will be a capability-building session, and we have already received HRCI approval for one hour of Strategic Credit.

Generational Divides
For the first time in history, four distinct generations—Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Xers, and
Milennials - are working side by side within the workplace. They are teaching and learning together
on a day-to-day basis. With differing values, thoughts around leadership, and communication styles,
these generations are facing very real conflicts.
In this workshop, participants will learn how each generation developed its core values, how that
manifests in the workplace today, and how these generations can work, learn, and grow together to
accomplish great success despite the generational divides.
